Dr. Steve Stanzione
Senior Partner
Dr. Stanzione, like several of his colleagues, is a New Jersey native. His college education was in Washington, D.C. at Georgetown University. Returning to New Jersey for medical school, he attended what was initially the Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry, but the State of New Jersey assumed ownership during his senior year, changing the name to the more familiar, New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Stanzione married his wife, Cathy, during his junior year of medical school, and their first child was born the following year. With his small family he returned to Washington, D.C. to work at the Walter Reed Army Hospital for his residency in Medicine and fellowship in Hematology/Oncology, where his family continued to grow. After completing training in Washington, D.C., he was assigned to Walson Army hospital in Ft. Dix, New Jersey where his son was born. There he was the Assistant Chief of the Department of Medicine and the Chief of Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Stanzione joined this fledgling medical group in 1972 when Overlook Hospital hired him to replace a departing hematologist. From those solo days, the practice, the field and the hospital grew quickly over the next few years. Despite this busy time, his family was completed with the birth of a fifth child. Now as grandparents, Dr. Stanzione continues to practice medicine because of his love for the fields of Hematology and Oncology, and the enjoyment of the expertise and collegiality of his partners, while his wife continues her education by pursuing a Masters Degree in Nursing.
